Id pay the money to get the next level up,, with more speed control... added a switch to mine to turn off one fan for quiter operation. great value for the money

This is a nice mid-price hood. Fan is powerful but relatively quiet. Love the halogen lights and easy touch controls. Stainless steel construction and the grease cup makes it easy to clean.

The hood does what it is supposed to do. Fairly good draw for 675 cfms (I think). I thought it would be a little more powerful; some normal cooking steam and smoke still escapes, but we're OK with it considering the price. My complaints are fairly minor but troublesome never the less: You WILL have to purchase a damper (the thing that opens when vent is in use & closes when not). I think this should be included in the box as a standard part because it is essential. Would have made our lives much easier, and happier. Imagine our disappointment when we opened the box, all excited and eager to install our new vent hood, only to discover we were in need of a critical part, the damper, causing us a week's delay as we had to send off for it. Not that easy to find at your everyday hardware store. We know because we tried all 6 in our area before ordering. At the very least, I think the manufacturer should have mentioned there was no damper included so we could have purchased one at the same time, allowing us to intall the hood when we got it without the unexpected delay and frustration. Once again, we think this is an essential part. I can't imagine anyone choosing not to have one, especially with utilities what they are today. Who wants cold drafts and loss of heat in the winter via a 5 inch hole in the ceiling (!) and visa versa in the summer? This is a (seemingly) minor deletion that unfortunately cames off as cheap, inconsiderate, and definately left a funny taste in our mouths. The other complaint is this: Believe it or not, you have to get out a screwdriver and unscrew the two fan covers EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO CLEAN THEM. For me, this is at least weekly as I cook daily and enjoy clean appliances. I think some kind of simple snap off & snap on devise would have been much more thoughtful, and such a small expense for the manufacturer. Cutting corners like this can cause a loss of repeat and word-of-mouth sales. Not sure I would purchase another Zepher now, but I would do more business with the store we purchased it from. Hope this helps.

very good for casual cooking. Straightfoward installation. Sturdy construction. Seems to work very well. Lights work well also. Moves a lot of air and is relatively quiet, but not whisper quiet.

Definetely recommended.
