Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

Front loaders have a problem with unbalanced heavy loads because the laundry lies at the bottom of a horizontal drum, making even distribution of the weight impossible, like you can with a vertical tub washer by simply moving clothes around. If during a spin cycle there is a big enough imbalance, it will slow the spin way down to get rid of the bulk of the water, then it will try a high speed spin again. If it's still out of balance it will slow down again, try it again at a high speed, and so on. This can take quite a bit of time.

My wife finds washing things like blankets annoying because they get so heavy from being waterlogged that it takes over an hour finish the load. She "doesn't like this machine" at those times but likes it a lot for clothing because it spins the clothes so dry. She isn't impressed by the fact that it uses a lot less water and detergent and spins most loads so dry the dryer finishes drying the load in much less time then it takes a slow spinning a top loader's load. I'm impressed because it saves a lot of water and significantly reduces energy costs, regardless of the long cycle times.

I hear that there are high spin-speed top loaders on the market now, which is big energy saver when it comes to drying the load, but it will still waste as much water and detergent as any other top loader. So if cycle time is more important to you than conservation, I'd go for the new top loaders.

Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

The wash cycle takes 57 minutes minimum, and goes longer if the clothes are not "balanced." This is much longer than my old Maytag.

I'm very pleased on how quiet this machine is. I have recently moved from a traditional top load machine to a front load. I'm impressed on how little water it takes as well. Very pleased so far !

Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

This is my second rating on this machine. First rating was for a relative and second machine I purchased. Washer is excellent for washable and handwashable clothes Very Quiet. Drains waters very well. Cleans better than a top loader. Uses less water. Clothes Dryer uses less time. Make sure you or the installer uses a level to balance the machine. If not, it will run longer.Rainbow is excellent to work with. [...]

Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

For all clothes. Cleans very well, takes out water very well. I still use the same detergent as I used for my old top loader but use half the amount. Very quiet, sometimes you do not know it is on.Sometimes the cycles run longer due to how the clothes settle in the machine. Much different than a top loader. Make sure you use a leveler when balancing the machine. That is very important. That will help reduce the cycle time. Rainbow Appliance is excellent. First time I used them. [...] Would recommend the Washer and Rainbow Appliance again.

Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

Save yourself time, money and hassle by choosing products from another manufacturer. A bit about "GE Cares"; they forgot to finish the slogan. The second half is "about getting your money," and then will hang you out to dry (which would work better than trying to use their dryer for the same). We purchased our washer and dryer new in 2007. Neither have ever worked right. Both emit a strong electrical burning smell when operating, which is rather unnerving. There are drainage issues with the washer, and temperature issues with the dryer constantly. Both units are guilty of destroying clothing, towels and 1000 thread-count, King-sized sheets. Our most recent experience was last Thursday, July 30, 2009, when my wife smelled smoke in the house and immediately when to find the source. Of course, it was the washing machine, which had filled the entire house with smoke. She shut if off immediately and unplugged it. Knowing full well that our 1-year, limited warranty has expired, we scheduled a GE "technician" to assess the situation, through GE repairs scheduling service. He came and left this morning, August 5, 2009, reporting no problems with the washer, regardless of the fact that there are small pieces of burnt, gray rubber (the same type and color found on the unit) found all over inside the unit's basket. He handed us a bill for $125.48, which was broken down as follows: $84.99, service call; $30.99, explanation of operation; $9.50, tax. He charged over $30 to tell us that we need to stop the machine during the cycle and manually redistribute the weight inside. We already do this, nearly every time we use it! I call GE immediately to demand a reasonable charge be agreed to for "advice." The representative contended that the charge was valid. This is absolutely ridiculous. There are no recalls on either unit, despite known, consistent, recurring issues. [@] I am afraid to continue using either of them for fear that my house will burn to the ground. I apologize if you run into this same or similar review posted by me on other sites, but I have exhausted my resources to let people know to avoid these products.WasherModel #: WCVH6260HWWSerial #: GM204344TDryer:Model#: DCVH515EFOWWSerial#: MM710906A

Comments about GE GE Energy Star WCVH6800J King-size Capacity Frontload Washer with Stainless Steel Basket, HydroHeater, and HydroWash System:

This washer works great, cleans my clothes better than my top loader, never shakes or moves across the 2nd floor laundry room, uses very little water and cleans lots of clothes in a load. It has been perfect! There's been no problem with mildew in the washer like I've seen mentioned in other reviews for front loaders.
